A saintly woman read and meditated on her Bible every day and sought to live by its principles. One day her son came by and after they ate, he picked up her well-worn Bible. As he thumbed through it, he noticed above certain verses the penciled letters “T.P.” “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. [T.P]” “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear [T.P]” “All things work together for good for those who love God. [T.P]” The letters T.P. baffled him so he asked his mom what “T.P.” meant. She replied, “Son, I don’t just read the Bible, I believe what I read and try to apply it. T.P. stands for tried and proven.” Son, God’s word works!” The reliability of God’s word is why we read in Revelation 10 that a mighty angel about to speak to John had a rainbow over his head. The rainbow symbolizes God’s faithfulness to fulfill His word. Long ago God assured Noah with a rainbow that He would keep His word never to destroy the earth again with water. The angel declared that John God’s plan to defeat evil and establish righteousness would certainly be fulfilled. God’s faithfulness to keep His word is why we honor and serve Jesus Christ today.
