Josh McDowell offers these evidences that Jesus arose from the dead: the Roman seal was broken; the tomb was empty; the stone was moved; the guards fled despite the prospect of their death; the grave clothes lay in the form of a body; all the eyewitnesses that said they saw Jesus alive, including 500 at once. In Acts 2, Peter adds this proof as he explains what happened on the day of Pentecost. He said we know Jesus is alive; we are witnesses of his resurrection.” He also said, “Christ is now exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God the Father’s right hand. As God promised, He gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. Peter then said, “Let every one in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” For Peter, the events on the day of Pentecost authenticated Jesus’ identity. The tongues of fire, wind, and their ability to speak in other languages was proof that Jesus was the Messiah, proof that God had exalted Him to the place of highest honor at God’s right hand. Else, Peter said, the Holy Spirit would not have come. This is just some of the proof that Jesus Christ is alive and is worthy of our love, trust, and service. But I’m still impressed with that sister’s words years ago. She said, “I know He’s alive because I just talked to Him this morning.
