Scientists recently reported that they have found a wall of stars that is a billion light years wide. It is so huge, that it takes light a billion years to travel from one side to the other. Of course, light travels at 186,000 miles per second. Inside this wall, they have found 830 galaxies, each about the size of our Milky Way. They call it the BOSS Great Wall because it is bigger than anything else in the whole universe. No wonder David marveled at the stars he saw in the sky, even though in his country he could see only 2-3,000 stars on a clear night. We read his words in Psalm 19: “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth and their words to all the world.” Those silent stars testify to God’s splendor—His wisdom, power, but also His love, and faithfulness. Stars show how puny we are; and if we are truly wise, we bow before God, the Creator of both stars and us. We acknowledge Him as the One to whom we must give account. We accept God’s Son as our Savior, and seek always to do His will.
