An article in a Christian publication offers reasons why many people have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Some don’t know they are lost. Some are not convinced Jesus is worthy to accept. Some think they are Christians by birth and don’t need to be born again. Some are unwilling to turn from sin. Some are afraid of failing. And some say they don’t accept Him because they see too many hypocrites among professing Christians. In Jesus’ day, many religious leaders rejected Him as the Messiah. They refused to believe the message of both John the Baptist and Jesus because both called for people to repent of their sins, to treat others justly and submit to Jesus Christ. In the Gospel by Luke chapter 7, the author makes this insightful statement: “The Pharisees and experts in religious law rejected God’s plan for them.” They rejected Jesus because accepting Him would mean giving up their control and domination over people. Yet accepting Him would bring them forgiveness, eternal life, and God’s presence and power to live a productive e life. Many people today offer various reasons they ignore Jesus Christ. We only hope they give sufficient attention to the outcome of their decision.
