We don’t know without the sun, life on earth would be impossible. Not only do we get light, heat, and energy from the sun to keep us warm, but without it nothing would grow. The sun is a huge ball of gas that generates heat up 27 million degrees F; so huge that a million earths can fit inside of it and have room to spare. The sun is 92.9 million miles from the earth, just the right distance to give us light and heat without burning us up. The rotation of the moon and sun serves as a massive clock to give us days, seasons, and years. The creation and functionality of the sun is just one amazing example of God’s knowledge, wisdom, love, and power. Psalm 104 celebrates the God of creation when the author writes: “You made the moon to mark the seasons, you send the darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening.” When we reflect on our awesome of creation, we bow in worship to God who did it. He is indeed a God of wisdom, love and power, worthy of our worship.
