Antony Flew was once the world’s most famous atheist. But in 2004, he shocked the world in his book entitled There is a God. He never professed to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior, but Antony Flew came to realize he could not explain the complex physical world and the existence of life itself without believing in God. The Bible teaches us, not only that God exists and has existed for all eternity, but also that God sent His Son into the world to redeem humanity from sin and make it possible for us to enjoy God’s fellowship. Paul, in Philippians chapter 2, explains what Jesus did this way: “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” Paul says, God has “elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.” Today, we gladly honor Jesus Christ as God’s Son and Ruler over heaven and earth. We claim Him as our Savior, Lord, and Guide through life.
