Someone observed that disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes teach us valuable lessons: that we are not in control; that we should prioritize what’s really important; that we really do need each other; and they give us chances to show love and concern. Another observer says in times of disasters we should be grateful for little blessings; maintain trust in Almighty God despite tragedy-knowing God is still loving and wise, and we should stay humble and avoid blaming God or others. The Apostle Paul wrote this to believers who were enduring pain and suffering because of their faith. In Philippians 1 he wrote,”Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.” He then said, “You have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.” In our times of difficulty, we should remind ourselves that God does not promise to shield His people from trouble, but He does promise to give us the strength to go through them. To those who truly belong to Christ, He says emphatically, “I will never, ever leave you nor forsake you.”
