MAY 2
Many innocent people plead guilty to crimes they did not commit because they have no money for attorney fees. One report says 85% of felony crimes are settled by pleading because the people charged don’t have money for good lawyers. Yet when it comes to our violations of God’s moral laws, common lawyers can’t help us. The Bible teaches God has declared all of us guilty of sin. The charges stick because God is holy and knows all our deeds and the motives behind our deeds. Paul the Apostle summed up our status writing in Romans CH 3: “No one is righteous–not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” Such charges by God confirms that we all fall short of His perfect standards. Consequently, we can never find favor with God by our puny efforts of doing good deeds. Our depravity is why God sent His Son into our world to pay the sin debt we were unable to pay. Now by faith in His Son, God is pleased to declare us “Not Guilty” when we repent of our sins and accept His Son as our Savior and Lord.
