Some nations, like Egypt, Ethiopia, China, Europe, and India have thrived for centuries. Yet the Bible teaches that a day will come when Jesus Christ will return to earth and establish a kingdom that will never pass away. Years ago, God promised King David that his kingdom would last forever. 2 Chronicles Chapter 7 tells us King David’s son Solomon erected a Temple in Jerusalem. It housed the Ark of the Covenant representing God’s presence in their midst. To confirm God’s presence and approval of the Temple, the Shekinah glory filled the place. Years later, while in the newly built Temple, Jesus declared that if that physical Temple were destroyed, He would raise it up in three days. He was predicting his own resurrection and the establishment of a new place in which He would dwell—the church. The church is His body and it will exist throughout eternity. The church is composed of all who accept Him as their Savior. No other entity will ever match the Church Christ died to establish—and it will exist forever! That is why wise people accept Jesus Christ and follow Him. Jesus himself said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness because you will have the light that leads to life.”
