George Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Martin in 2012 in Florida. He was questioned, then released for lack of evidence. Six weeks later after intense protests and media coverage, he was charged with murder, but a jury acquitted him of all charges. Sadly, our justice system doesn’t always get it right. Yet all humanity stands guilty before God because we inherited a sin nature from creation and because we choose to sin each day. Yet despite our guilt, God has provided a way for us to have favor with Him. Paul explains it this way in Romans Ch 8: “[There] is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” “He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. ” Today, God has made ample provision to atone and forgive our sins. We can now enjoy a rich, favorable relationship with God by simply turning from sin and accepting His Son by faith. It seems impossible that anyone would reject or ignore such an incredible gift of God’s love.
