A young man was asked to share his life goals. He said 1) I’ll go to college and major in business; 2) I’ll get a job at a prestigious investment company; 3) next, I’ll get married and have a family; 4) then I’ll retire and enjoy life. Then what? He was asked. 5) I guess I’ll die. Then what? Having no satisfactory answer, he began to think seriously about life after death. The reality of life beyond the grave is why God urges us to prepare now and He has shown how to get ready. The Bible teaches it is in being connected with Jesus Christ by faith that we are enabled to live productively today and be ready for eternity. Romans Ch 8 tells us “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” “Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.” So the gift of God’s Son makes the difference between a destiny of death and a destiny of life eternal. That’s why we urge people to accept God’s offer of forgiveness, then to love one another, and to promote justice and righteousness in our world today.
