In 2008, nine violent men in a Morocco prison got away. They escaped by digging a tunnel that led them out of prison to their freedom. Criminals often find creative ways to escape paying for their crimes. These got away, but none of us can escape accountability for our actions here on earth. God has decreed that everyone who enters this world will give account for their deeds–even those who deny that God exists. Here are the words Jesus Christ gave to John who wrote the book of Revelation. After showing John the things that will happen in the future, Jesus gave him these strong words: “Look, I am coming soon bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. “I am the bright and morning star. The Spirit and the bride say “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say “Come.” Let anyone who desires, drink freely from the water of life.” Notice–even as Jesus makes clear that each person will give account to Him for how we lived on earth, He extends an urgent invitation. All who desire may come to Him now by faith and receive eternal life.
