Family Counselor Dr. Raymond Force offers these tips on how a husband can honor his wife: Take interest in her interests. Don’t discount her words in front of the children. Don’t criticize her ideas even when they differ from yours. Maintain awareness of her emotional needs. Consider her view point. Protect her by leading and not driving. Don’t act as if you know it all. Be honest and work at being a blessing to the family. Long ago, Joseph sought to honor and protect his wife Mary when she became pregnant apart from Joseph. Rather than divorce her and perhaps cause her to be stoned, he sought to end the marriage quietly. That’s when God’s angel appeared to him giving him advice on how to proceed. We read this in Matthew Ch 1, “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.  And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Joseph was a man of character who wanted to do the will of God and the best for his wife. Husbands today who desire to fulfill God’s purpose in their lives honor and protect their wives and together they promote His Kingdom.
