We humans can boast of having a particular history, culture, color, and ethnicity, yet scientists are agreed that we are all connected. They say we sprang from a common source on the continent of Africa/Even though scientists are still struggling to align their findings with what the Bible reveals, they agree that we all come from a single source. Of course, the Bible reveals that God is that single source who created the first two people–Adam and Eve. Those first two people–the entire human race at the time–violated God’s moral law and in doing so became alienated from Him. This bent of disobeying God was passed to their children. It is the cause of all the chaos and wickedness we see in the world today. Thankfully, God did not abandon His creation but sent His Son into the world to redeem humanity. He allowed His Son to pay our sin debt so we can be reconciled with God our Creator. One of the most profound statements of God’s grace and provision is found in John 3:16: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” What a loving God. What a profound gift. What a gracious invitation.
