Officials can now use DNA to help determine a person’s guilt, innocence, or even paternity. That is because each person’s genetic makeup is unique. No two people have the same DNA. Fulfilled prophecies are a bit like DNA. When there is a match, it points to the accuracy of the claim. Through carefully selected prophets, God predicted things to come. When those prophecies came true, their fulfillment proved that they came from God; so we can accept the message as bona fide. Numerous times, God promised to send a redeemer into the world. The prophet Isaiah said a virgin would give birth to a son who would be the Savior of the world. Jeremiah prophesied that this Messiah would be a descendant of King David. Micah predicted that he would be born in the city of David, Bethlehem. All these predictions came true just as the prophets said. The Apostle Paul, knowing the significance of fulfilled predictions, said of Jesus in Romans 1:3, “He was born into King David’s family line.” All these fulfilled prophecies concerning Jesus Christ are like DNA markers. They are unique. No one except an all-knowing God could make such predictions so far in advance, and make them all come true. Their fulfillment points to the love, wisdom, power of God. Fulfilled prophecy is just another reason we honor God and accept His Son as our Savior and Lord.
