Among people that deny Jesus’ physical resurrection are members of the Jesus Seminar. They say no evidence exists to support the Christians’ claim of Jesus’ tomb being empty. It amuses me that they accept the biblical record that He was in a tomb, but reject the same Bible that says He arose. The physical resurrection of Jesus is the very core of the Christian faith–the basis of our hope both in this world and, most importantly, in the life beyond the grave. In 1 Cor. CH 15, the Apostle Paul said emphatically, “lf Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless … and you are still guilty of your sins.” He goes on to say, “Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.” Paul is just one of many eyewitnesses who saw Jesus alive after he died. We read in Luke Ch. 24 that as the women stood in front of the tomb puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The men asked the women, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!” Jesus Christ is alive today. That is the basis of our faith.
