Before passed away, Chuck Colson, founder of Break Point, said he thought postmodernism might be dying. Postmodernists say absolute truth does not exist, that all we can hope to have are preferences that may or may not be true. Even some Christians have devised ways to ignore certain biblical teachings. Yet truths like these are perfectly clear: Psalm 24—“The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it.” Or this in 1 Corinthians 15: “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive”; or this in Acts chapter 17, “[God] has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed.” The Bible teaches that God created, sustains, and controls all that exists. He created people in His own image. We humans rejected God’s authority and set our own standard of right and wrong. But God loved us so much that He did not abandon us in our sin. He became human in Jesus and paid our sin debt by His death on the Cross. Today, He forgives all who repent of their sins and accept His Son as their Savior. When we trust Jesus to save us, God’s Spirit comes to live inside of us. One day, God’s Son will return to earth. He will call all people to give account for how they lived on earth.
