Huge telescopes are located high up in the mountains of Chile. Up there, the skies are dry and clear for more than 300 days a year. Using giant telescopes, astronomers can see far into space since there’s very little clutter. In 1 Peter Chapter 1, the apostle urges us to get rid of clutter in our spiritual lives so we can grow in our faith. He explains it this way: “Get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation.” Peter says we can do this because we are children of God by faith in His Son. He says, “Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.” Of course Christians are not yet perfect, but because God has planted the seed of His word within us, our faith in God can grow, as well as our love for people.
