Amazon is one of the largest businesses in the world, worth $488 billion, more than Wal-mart, Costco, and Target combined. Despite setbacks, Amazon has never lost sight of its desired outcome—to sell at a discount anything a person wants. Envisioning a desired outcome is critical in any endeavor—even in our salvation. As our Lord faced death on the cross, He envisioned the outcome of sharing a banquet with His redeemed people in the Kingdom of God. He said so just before He died. We read in Mark 14 that as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it in pieces, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take it, for this is my body.” He likewise took a cup of wine, gave thanks to God for it, gave it to them, and said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many. I tell you the truth, I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.” Our Lord knew His sacrifice would bring forgiveness of sins and fellowship with God to all who trust Him. If we truly believe this outcome, we will love Him, love others, and serve Him each day.
