Asking how big God is seems like a childish question. Yet to give us some idea of God’s immensity, the Prophet Isaiah (CH. 40) says God holds all the oceans in his hand and measures stars–the entire universe of galaxies with his fingers. He says God knows the exact number of stars and can call each one by its pet name. Surely, God knows each of our names and addresses. He cares for each of his children. The Apostle Paul in Col. Ch 1 says this about Jesus, God’s Son: He is “the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. Christ made the things we can see and the things we can’t see–such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ.” People who begin to grasp God’s immensity, wisdom, love, and power, and the superiority of God’s Son, worship Him and vow to serve Him with all their hearts.
