Young children can amaze us by some of the things they say. One said, “Dear God, I bet it’s hard for You to love the whole world. There are only four people in our family, and I can hardly do it.” Another said, “Dear God, thank You for the baby brother, but what I asked You for was a puppy. You can look it up.” A not-yet-4-year-old was sitting in the adult worship service waiting for the signal when children are dismissed for children’s church. When the announcement came, she blurted out for all to hear, “It’s about time!” While Jesus was on earth, He did many wonderful miracles to show how much He cared for people. We read in Matthew chapter 21 that the religious leaders saw these amazing miracles and heard Jesus teach, but they turned a deaf ear to Him, refusing to believe God sent Him. But the children in the Temple kept shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.” They believed what the religious people refused to believe, and Jesus commended the little ones. The simple faith of little children must not be ignored. That’s why we must teach them about Christ while they are young; so when they grow older, their faith will remain strong.
