Effective leadership qualities include a clear vision of where the leader wants to go; the ability to convey that vision to others; integrity, which means their outward actions match their inner values; dedication that inspires others by their example. They refuse to take credit for what others do but give credit where credit is due. They are not pompous or arrogant, but lead with humility. They are creative and fair; and they possess a sense of humor. Now of course few people will have all of these traits in abundance; but dedicated leaders continually pursue these values. Long ago, God revealed the leadership qualities the Messiah would have–the person God has appointed to redeem and rule over the entire creation. Here is that prophecy from Isaiah ch. 9: “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen.” Followers of Jesus Christ accept Him as God’s anointed, and they pledge their total allegiance to him.
