In 1948, Franklin Roosevelt signed the executive order that ended segregation in the United States Military. Even though Blacks had served in the Civil War, they were always segregated until the President’s Executive order said there would be no more racial separation in fighting our wars. Yet access to serve in the military cannot compare to our entrée to Almighty God. AT Mt Sinai where God established a covenant with ancient Israel, He set strict limits. People could not come near the mountain where God was about to reveal himself as extremely holy—else they would die. They could not enter God’s holy presence. But fast forward to the day Christ died on the cross. God initiated another incredible event. As Jesus breathed his last, God split the Temple veil from top to bottom. This signaled Christ had fully sacrificed his life to pay our sin debt. His death now gives full access to all who desire to enter the presence of God. The writer of Hebrews explained the benefit of the split veil. He wrote, “Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
