Willard Wigan is a micro sculptor, an African American from Birmingham, Alabama. His sculptures are so tiny they sit in the eye of a needle or on a pinhead. He is so good that his patrons include Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth. He got his start at age 5, when he felt so sorry for ants that he made them houses, shoes, and hats! His craft requires such precision that he works at night to avoid daytime vibrations and noise. But consider this: God is so immense that He fills everything, everywhere. Yet He creates and controls atoms, molecules, and DNA. King David celebrated God’s immense wisdom and power when he declared (Psalm 24), “The earth is the LORD’S, and every thing in it. The world and all its people belong to him.” He goes on to say that since God created, sustains, and owns every thing that exists, He deserves our total gratitude, reverence, and obedience. But since as sinful beings, we fall short of giving God His perfect due, we need the perfect righteousness of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. It is why the Apostle Paul wrote (1 Timothy, Chapter 2), “There is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.” In comparison to God, we are very small, yet God still loves us, and when we accept His Son as our Savior, we become God’s dear children.
