Reports say mysterious things happen in the Bermuda Triangle. Pilots say their instruments go haywire; ships have been lost at sea. Those events are mysterious, but a far greater mystery is how Jesus Christ can be both God and human at the same time. Of course, if Jesus is really God, everything He says must be true. As God, He stands alone as the absolute Ruler of the universe—all knowing, all wise, and all powerful. Also as God, we are obligated to submit to Him. For these reasons, people who don’t want to admit and submit to Jesus as God look for ways to discredit Him. In dialogue with Jews of His day, Jesus declared His identity in John 10, He says: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” In his conversation, Jesus said the miracles He did proved that He is who He claimed to be—the Messiah. Then He made this bold statement, “My Father and I are one,” meaning They have a unique oneness no one else can claim. Jesus then promised a unique gift to those who follow Him. He said they have eternal life and will never, ever perish.
