Experts warn us to beware of telemarketers who call to say you’ve won a prize or a vacation. We should listen carefully and not let them pressure us; protect our phone number, guard our credit card, our social security number; and be cautious of requests for donations, which can schemes to put money in the caller’s pocket. Scams are very pervasive BUT sometimes amazing stories are true. On the day Jesus arose from the dead, His disciples were very skeptical that He had risen. We find in Luke chapter 24 that when the women told the disciples about their experience at the tomb where Jesus once lay, their story sounded like nonsense to them, so they did not believe it. Even as Jesus spoke with two followers on their way to Emmaus, the two were very sad, feeling Jesus was not the Messiah they thought he was. Only after the Lord revealed himself to them and later appeared to others on multiple occasions did they give up their skepticism and accept the truth that Jesus was indeed alive from the dead. Today, there is no valid reason to question Jesus’ resurrection. We have the claims of hundreds of witnesses who say they saw Jesus alive after he died—plus we also have the witness of the Holy Spirit deep in our hearts that He lives.
