The Reputation Institute uses high tech data to rank businesses based on whether they keep their promises to their customers. They examine annually over 2,000 companies in the U.S., looking for those that are honest, trustworthy, and do what they promise their customers. The ranking changes from year to year based on well a company does. Of course, God himself is the best model for integrity. Long ago, Moses appealed to God’s reliability to save his nation from total destruction. After leading the people out of Egyptian slavery, God called Moses to the top of a mountain to receive the Laws by which the nation would be governed. While Moses was on the mountain the people quickly turned to worship idols. God was so angry he threatened to destroy the entire population and start a new nation with Moses. Moses then pleaded with God to spare the people, not slay them all. Moses based his plea on God’s reputation. God had promised Abraham many descendants and a homeland. Moses argued, God if you destroy them, you will be breaking your promise to Abraham, and the Egyptians will spread a rumor that you killed them because you could not deliver on your promise. God listened to Moses and spared the people. Our God keeps every promise He has made.
