David Levy’s grandfather predicted the 1929 stock market crash. Since then, the Levy family has predicted every major financial event in the United States, including the 2008 recession. So when Levy economists speak, many people listen. Yet we have a far more reliable source of truth. We call it the Bible, recorded by dozens of writers over a period of 1400 years. God’s Word is so valuable and reliable that the author of Psalm 119 used 176 verses to celebrate God’s gift of the Bible. Utilizing a variety of choice terms, he praises God for truth that enables us to know God and navigate life. Here are just a few statements about God’s Word: “Lord, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me. Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in your word. Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for your regulations are my only hope. I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever. I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed. How I delight in your commands! How I love them! I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees.” People who value God’s word celebrate the Bible. It is God’s invaluable gift to us.
