How do you get to heaven from America or any place on earth? Religions the world over give different answers to that question. Some don’t believe in life after death, so they don’t worry about it. Many say wisdom and hard work are your best chance of heaven. The Bible teaches that, yes, there is life after death and that salvation is a free gift of God—a gift we get by faith in Jesus Christ—total reliance and commitment to him. No amount of work or effort can qualify a person to earn acceptance into to heaven. That is what the Apostle Peter said in his answer to those who tried to add on to the grace of God. In Acts chapter 15, we read his words, “Brothers, you all know that God chose me from among you some time ago to preach to the Gentiles, so that they could hear the Good News and believe. God knows people’s hearts and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith. So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear? We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.” Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me.”
