Sources say many drug addicts don’t ask for help because drugs have damaged their brains. Some are unable to make rational decisions. They don’t believe they need help. That same condition may be why some people do not come to Christ. They don’t realize they need Him. In explaining how salvation works, the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 3 that for a person to receive God’s salvation, he must admit that He needs it. Once he admits his helplessness, he is qualified to accept God’s gift of forgiveness—a gift that comes through faith in what Jesus Christ did for us when He died on the cross. Paul wrote, “everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” What an amazing plan God devised to save humans. God allows the death of His Son to serve as full payment for our sins. Anyone who accepts this amazing gift by faith receives eternal life. Gratitude causes them to surrender themselves to serve Christ and His Kingdom agenda.
