Effective Advertising Engages the Mind, Emotions, and the Will

Effective advertising gains our attention, provides facts about a product, appeals to our emotions, and calls us to act—to buy. Ads appeal to our mind, emotions and volition. Those same traits are at play in all we do and they, in effect, shape our moral and spiritual values. It is why God, through Moses, told the entire family to meditate on what God has revealed about His will. Knowing and obeying God would be their pathway toward long life and success on earth. We read in Deuteronomy 6, “Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” Today we still need constant reminders of Christ’s Kingdom values lest we slip away from them. That is because so many distractions are arrayed against us: Satan, our own flesh, and the world around us.
