DNA is a proven way to establish identity. It can show whether an alleged father is the real father, whether twins are identical or not, whether a suspected criminal is the one who did the crime. All this is possible because DNA can show an undeniable connection between two parties. That same principle is at work in our relationship with God. God created us in His own image. We have God’s imprint in the DNA of our being. Essentially, we can know, feel, decide, and act as God does. While we humans rejected God’s authority and chose to live apart from Him, we cannot successful deny His imprint upon us. It is why the psalmist urges everybody to acknowledge God as absolute ruler over all humanity and to worship Him. We read in Psalm 66, “Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is … Everything on earth will worship you.” Those who genuinely respond to God’s offer of reconciliation repent of their sins and accept His Son. They become members of His redeemed community. They love their neighbors and their neighborhood. They work to promote Christ’s Kingdom values of love and justice.
