C.S. Lewis, a one time atheist, finally converted to Christianity. He later said this about Jesus: “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God or else a madman, or something worse …. “You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon, or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God.” Long ago Jewish leaders sent Temple soldiers to arrest Jesus. After listening to him teach, the soldiers refused to arrest Jesus, and told the leaders who sent them, ItWe have never heard anyone speak like this!” The testimony of these Temple soldiers is profound, only because it is true. Jesus Christ is the greatest Teacher that ever lived, but He is more than that. He is the only God-appointed person qualified to pay the sin debt of all humanity. After dying and rising again, God declared him Ruler over heaven and earth. No one matches His identity as God’s prophet, priest, and Ruler of the entire universe.
