Experts say these are some outcomes of adultery and illicit sex: divorce, unwanted children, abortion, STDs, guilt, fear, worry, loss of self-esteem, depression, ruined relationships, decline in work ethic, depression, loss of sleep, loss of joy in living, alienation of loved ones, and weakness in the use of spiritual gifts. No wonder Jesus warns us about adultery and illicit sex. Matthew 5:27: “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” Adultery and illicit sex begins in the heart. So to deal with it, we must invite God into our hearts then rely on Him to help us cope with it.
