Archaeologist Howard Carter found King Tut’s tomb in 1922. After more than 3,000 years, King Tut was still in his tomb, along with many priceless treasures. Millions of people stood in line for hours to get a glimpse of this ancient king. Yet the tomb where Jesus was buried is empty because He rose from the dead after dying. His resurrection is proof that God keeps every promise and covenant He makes. God’s integrity to keep His word is what King Solomon was counting on as He dedicated Israel’s ancient Temple nearly 3000 years ago. In praying, the king asked God to show favor to the nation based on God’s covenant with his father, King David. We read this in 2 Chronicles chapter 6, “O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to all the prayers made to you in this place. … Remember your unfailing love for your servant David.” Solomon based his request on his strong conviction that God would keep the promise He made to his father David. Today, our hope and destiny are based on our faith that God will keep the promise He has made to save all who place their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
