According to a Stanford University study, complaining can shrink the part of our brain that helps us solve problems. It is believed Alzheimer’s contributes to this shrinkage. Complaining can also raise our blood pressure and lead to heart disease and diabetes. Grumbling can erode relationships because it annoys listeners, especially when the complainer offers no solution to the complaints.  The Apostle Paul urged the church in Philippi to stop arguing and complaining because it would undermine the effectiveness of the church. After citing the example of Christ, who laid aside the outward display of His divine nature to become human and serve us as a humble slave, Paul wrote this in Ch 2: “Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.” He reminds them that unity and working together for the cause of Christ will stand out in our dark world like stars in the midnight sky. Arguing and complaining can destroy a family, a church, a business, or any entity. That’s why we seek to honor our Lord Jesus Christ by working together in unity and harmony.
