Some people say to be fulfilled in life, go to college, pick a profession, be good at it; save your money, invest it, own your own business, and marry well. Such things are helpful, but followers of Jesus see a different path to fulfillment. Since we are made in God’s image, we seek fulfillment by pursuing a living relationship with God. He sent His Son into the world as the perfect man. Jesus died to connect us with God. Our Lord urges us to stay in union with him by trusting and obeying him. In doing this, we find purpose as we serve others and use our abilities to enhance Christ’s Kingdom agenda. As His purpose becomes our purpose, we discover our highest fulfillment. Philippians CH 1 tells how Paul struggled to decide if he should die and be with Jesus or stay longer on earth. He resolved his dilemma by saying: “I will remain alive so I can continue to help all of you grow and experience the joy of your faith.” So lasting joy and fulfillment is found in vibrant faith in Jesus Christ. From Him comes all that makes life successful.
