According to the Guinness World Records, the largest wedding banquet on record hosted 150,000 guests. It took place in Madras, India in 1995 at a cost $23 million. The couple’s three-mile drive to the banquet hall was strewn with rose pedals, colored lights, and giant paper-mache models of ancient Indian princes. Though extravagant, this is nothing compared to the coming banquet Jesus Christ will host for all who accept His invitation to the Messianic Banquet. Jesus left us a parable to stress the importance and urgency of responding to the invitation He offers to the entire world. We find it in Luke CH 13, “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.” How tragic it will be to ignore Christ’s invitation today only to hear the sad and final word from the Toastmaster, “It is too late to enter the banquet of eternal life.”
