Egyptian pyramids are some of the world’s most durable constructions. They reflect such monumental and exacting construction that modern engineers and archaeologists are still struggling to explain how these ancient Egyptian brothers pulled it off. Some scholars believe it would have taken perhaps thousands of men and man-hours to haul these huge stones from quarries to places where they have stood firm 5,000 years. Though mostly built out of stone, their durability helps illustrate what Jesus said about the value of the truth He spoke and which we read in the Bible. In Matthew 7 we find this: “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Hopefully, we are wise enough to listen and obey Jesus words.
