In our system of government, the Supreme Court is the highest authority for interpreting the law. Its verdict is final; we have no higher appeal. But the highest authority in the universe is not a court but a king. Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. He demonstrated His qualifications to be the supreme head of the universe by His complete and total obedience to do the will of God the Father. His resurrection from the dead is proof that God approved Him as qualified to hold the highest office in the universe. After rising from the dead, He declared to His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.” We read in Acts Chapter 2 that the Apostle Peter declared about Jesus on the day of Pentecost, “He is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven at God’s right hand.” “Let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” Since Jesus Christ is God’s appointed ruler over the entire universe, it makes good sense for every person to be in the right relationship with Him. Thankfully, He offers to forgive sins and accept any and everyone who repents and comes to Him by faith.
