Robert Eggert figured out how to forecast economic activity. On the 15th of each month, he asks 75 economic gurus where they think the economy is going—companies like Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. He then takes their responses, crunches their answers, and prepares a consensus prediction. The result is that he almost always comes up with an accurate forecast. One writer says he operates by the biblical proverb that says: “A wise man listens to advice.” Other biblical proverbs include these from Proverbs chapter 24: “A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.” Since wisdom is the ability to properly navigate through life, we know it can only come from the One who is its source—God. Any other so-called wisdom has its flaws. Flawed human wisdom can cause us to take a wrong path that leads to nowhere in this life and to eternal death when this life ends.
