Kingston Technology began in 1983. They produce gadgets to hold massive digital data. By 1996, they had $1 billion in profits. They chose to share the wealth with their employees by giving them 10% of the profits. The bonuses averaged $130,000. To advertize their success, they did an ad that said, “Thanks a billion!” When Jesus saw how a rich man chose to cling to his wealth rather than follow Jesus, Jesus said to His disciples, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Jesus knew there was nothing wrong with having money. The problem is that many with money feel self-sufficient; they don’t realize they need God. So they never come to Christ for salvation. In Matthew Chapter 19, Jesus promised His disciples that those who make Him their highest priority in this life would get rich rewards when He returns in His glory. He said, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, every one who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.” Of course, salvation is free, based upon our faith in Christ. Still, we show that our faith is genuine when we gratefully follow Christ.
