According to the Bloomberg Business week, nobody knows the secret for economic growth, and anyone who claims to know is lying. The article notes that experts publish 000s of papers every year to explain past and future activity, and most if not all get it wrong. But consider what God said through Haggai 2500 years ago. His nation was having economic hardships–lean harvests, inflation, shortages of food and beverages. Haggai gave the people God’s message. He said the reason for their hardships was that they had become self-centered, neglected God, and God’s priorities. Here is how he framed God’s message to them: “You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own houses. It’s because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops. I have called for a drought on your fields and hills—a drought to wither the grain and grapes and olive trees and all your other crops, a drought to starve you and your livestock and to ruin everything you have worked so hard to get.” The people listened, repented, reversed their priorities, by putting God first, and they began to prosper again. Jesus later said Seek the kingdom of God and God will add other things as well.”
