Generous Giving is a group that formed in the year 2000 to foster giving. Their mission is to stir God’s people toward Christ-like generosity. It does not make grants, do fundraising, or even show people how to budget, save, or invest. Rather, it focuses on showing God’s people the value of Christian stewardship. They have discovered that the more God’s people give to promote God’s work, the more God blesses them to give. Testimonies of people who adopt their principles confirm what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippian church, “God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ.” Another of the group’s favorite Scripture texts is Matthew 6, where Jesus said, “Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Paul told the believers at Philippi that sent him money, “Your gifts are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable to God. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Generous Givers urge people first to give themselves to God, and then give their money to kingdom causes. In this way, they show they are only stewards of God’s generosity to them.
