Many companies count on customers to spread the word about their products. In order for word-of-mouth to work, a company must have an excellent product, must give excellent service; must be honest in their messages; I think the psalmist may have had word-of-mouth principles in mind as he wrote Psalm 105. He writes, “Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the LORD. Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given.” All through this psalm, the writer urges God’s people to spread the word about Him–to celebrate who God is and what He has done. The benefits of praising God are enormous. When we praise God, we honor Him and intensify our own appreciation of Him; and we send a strong message to others that God is good and worthy. Of course, praise is not simply mouthing the phrase “Praise the Lord.” It includes extolling specific attributes of God and testifying to various ways God manifests Himself. That is why the psalmist said, “Proclaim God’s greatness, and tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.”
