Don’t look now, but our world is changing — changing in the way we communicate, and in the values we live by. Sadly, many now believe we have no absolute values; that each person can decide his or her own ethics. In the midst of this hi-tech and moral revolution, God’s people can cling to one unchanging truth: God, our Father will have the last word. God reminded John of this as recorded in the book of Revelation. After recording the seven letters from Jesus, John heard a voice say, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.” Suddenly, in the Spirit, John saw God’s throne in heaven — awesome in brilliance. He saw 24 thrones around this main throne, and 24 elders sat on each of these thrones. He also saw four living beings. Day after day and night after night they led in worship saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty — the one who always was, who is, and who is to come.” When these living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne, the 24 elders fall down and worship the one on the throne. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things. They exist because you created what you pleased.” Since all heaven accepts God’s absolute authority and holiness, we earthly creatures should do no less.
