According to authorities, more than 4300 different religions are in the world today. They all seem to have one common characteristic: they seek in various ways to gain favor with God or some higher power. By contrast, in Christianity, God seeks us. Jesus said. “The Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Our part is to place our faith in Him. God revealed to Abraham many years ago that faith is the means by which He accepts us. Later, the Apostle Paul used Abraham’s experience to explain how God accepts people today. He writes in Romans CH 4, “[T]he promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift…. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” Today, we rejoice that God’s salvation 4
is a free gift—so complete, comprehensive, and amazing that to show our gratitude, we surrender to Him our entire lives.
