19th century artists were asked to envision and depict what life might be like in the 20th century—100 years in advance! One pictured mail being delivered to homes by an airplane flying low enough to deliver mail to each residence. Another pictured a bus loaded with people towed by a whale at the bottom of the ocean. By using our imagination we envision a stimulating if not exciting future. Yet it is more rewarding to see by faith in God what we cannot discern with the naked eye. That happened to Moses in Egypt. We read this in Hebrews 11: “It was by faith that Moses when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt.” [Here’s the vision] “He was looking ahead to his great reward. It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” Today, God invites us to accept Him, even though God is invisible. To help our faith He sent His Son into our visible world. His Son took on human flesh and became a part of human history. Now all who believe and accept God’s Son enjoy eternal life.
