Support Families and Victims of the Recent Tornadoes and Floods

Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich declared six southeastern Illinois counties state disaster areas on June 10, 2008, due to widespread flooding and severe storms that have forced evacuations and closed roadways. The state disaster declaration makes available a wide variety of state resources that can help affected communities respond and recover from flooding. Counties included in the Governor’s declaration are Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Jasper and Lawrence.

Dr. Damon Arnold, Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, thanks Urban Ministries, Inc. for its support of the Illinois Emergency Prepardness initiative. Today we are asking you to help the families and victims of the recent tornadoes and floods in Illinois and Indiana by calling the local health officials in the following counties: Marion, Peoria, Rockford, Pike, Calhoun, Cumberland, and Clark. Click here for a list of County Health Officials to contact.

This initiative is supported by Rev. Clay Evans and the members of The Broadcast Minister's Alliance of Chicago.
